Amprion GmbH has launched a binding tender process for its innovative “Netzbooster” project, aimed at bolstering grid reliability during transmission network equipment failures. This ambitious initiative aligns with § 11a of the Energiewirtschaftsgesetz (German Energy Industry Act) and sets the stage for a major leap in decentralized energy storage.

Here’s the Breakdown:

• Total Storage Capacity: 250 MWh across five sites (50 MWh each).
• Response Requirements: Systems must activate within 10 seconds, deliver continuous power for 1 hour, and operate for at least 100 hours annually.
• Operational Timeline: 31.12.2026 to 30.12.2036.

Tender Variants

• Variant 1: Continuous availability (8760 hours/year).
• Variant 2: Excludes availability from April to August.

Site and Connection Options

• Lechwerke AG (LVN) is offering potential sites and lease agreements, but bidders may propose their own locations.
• Connections will link to LVN’s high-voltage grid.
